SDSA’s Health Science Initiative sponsored an informative workshop Building a Diverse Workforce: Supporting Culturally Competent Curriculum Implementation on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Attendees received:

  • Information on components of culturally competent curriculum to support instruction in your health science academy
  • On line access to 10 integrated health science curriculum units designed by ConnectEd: take the curriculum back to your school site
  • Parent Resource Guide for Educators: information from the San Diego County Office of Education on available services, effective parent involvement programs, federal and local parent resources and information on higher education
  • Information on the PROMISE Parent Ambassador Program: learn to implement your own program to help parents navigate the high school educational system
  • The opportunity to share your experiences and challenges with colleagues and industry supporters and identify enhancements to your current program.
