Oncofertility is a new field in medicine addressing the fertility needs of cancer patients and quality of life issues that concern young cancer patients. The Oncofertility Consortium is a national, interdisciplinary initiative designed to explore the reproductive future of cancer survivors. It is supported by the National Institutes of Health Interdisciplinary Research Consortium Grant. This grant also supports outreach in science to Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago with Northwestern University, The BE WiSE Program of the San Diego Science Alliance with the University of California San Diego and in Oregon with Oregon Health and Science University. This is part of an effort to help attract, prepare and retain girls in science majors and careers. |
