Organization Profile:
CommNexus San Diego, formerly the San Diego Telecom Council, is a non-profit network of communications industry companies, defense industry companies, service providers, professional trade organizations, and local government.

By introducing both national and international markets to the emerging technologies in our region, CommNexus positions San Diego as a world center for innovation in communications technology. Our core programs and on-line services, which include over 50 networking and technical events per year, funding & business development assistance to more than 100 companies annually, and an award-winning website & on-line portal, have formed a vast communications community in the San Diego region that is constantly growing.

To accomplish our mission, we offer core programs and services that target three major areas of interest to local tech companies: business development, access to capital, and recruitment and retention of talent. Our programs that aim to aid companies in these three areas include:

• MarketLink
The MarketLink program offers the opportunity for regional companies to present their new products and latest innovations to executives of multi-national corporations in a personalized, 1-on-1 session. Coined as high tech “speed dating,” the MarketLink program is a quick and efficient method for smaller, start-up companies to meet and introduce products to corporate leaders and foster new business opportunities.

• InternNexus and JobNexus
InternNexus and JobNexus are our two newest talent-recruitment programs that offer our members and sponsors a method for keeping the best and brightest talent in San Diego. Companies can post their open job and internship positions on these two career-search sites, and will receive automatic email alerts when applications have been submitted for open positions.

• NextStage
Also known as “two hours of tough love for the entrepreneur,” NextStage is a free program that offers emerging companies the opportunity to present their business idea to a panel of industry experts who give honest opinions and feedback about the business plan.

• SIGs
Our monthly Special Interest Group (SIG) events offer members of San Diego’s tech industry the opportunity to learn about the latest technology trends, markets, and policies. CommNexus hosts several SIGs, including Marketing, Semiconductor, Human Resources, Military, Mobile/Carrier, and Digital Media SIGs.

CommNexus San Diego is member- and sponsor-supported. Our programs were created to support and encourage the growth and development of San Diego’s vast community of communications technology companies.
