TeacherTECH Science Series: Using Environmental Sensors to Enhance Classroom Teaching

Date(s): 05/02/2009 to 05/02/2009
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm

Description:
As California begins to adopt the Education and the Environment Initiative, teachers will be responsible for implementing lessons that show sensitivity to and understanding of the environment. One effective way to engage middle school students in studying environmental health is to provide them with hand-held sensors. In this workshop, middle school teachers will be introduced to hand-held sensors and will learn how sensors can be used to support student awareness of their environment. Participants will be taught by other middle school teachers who have participated in our IT-E3 Initiative (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION TOOLS) over the past year.

With this workshop, you will receive:
- Lesson plan ideas and handouts
- Individualized assistance in using the sensors from data collection to analysis

Prerequisites:
