Conference on New Teachers in Genomics

Description:
Elementary School, Middle School, High School and Community College Educators are Invited to attend our hands-on summer TeacherTECH Science Workshops.

This introductory hands-on five-day workshop is a must for any educator who wants to explore genomics through the use of biotechnology and genomics activities for the classroom. Industry scientists and academic researchers will provide training on the basics of DNA structure and function. The laboratory sessions will include preparation of and procedures for DNA extraction and expression. Computer laboratory sessions will include data analysis with clustering, as well as other bioinformatics tools.

Conference stipend is $300.00.

This workshop is offered in collaboration with The Scripps Research Institute, San Diego Miramar College and the San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California, San Diego. This workshop will take place at all three locations.
