Beginning Podcasting for Educators (Mac)

Podcasting is an emerging technology that is being utilized in education to give students, teachers, administrators, and school districts an authentic voice and to provide them with a wide audience to share their work. We will discuss how podcasting is being used in education with the focus on incorporating podcasting into curriculum to benefit teaching and learning, as a showcasing tool for school sites and districts, and to deliver training materials. We will provide hands on instruction on how to download, listen, and create podcasts using both GarageBand™ and iMovie™ software and how to publish your podcast on the Internet. Copyright will also be discussed as needed throughout the sessions.

Moodle I: Beginning Moodle for Educators

Moodle is an open source learning management system (LMS) used to augment traditional face-to-face courses and also deliver content in online courses. Moodle is a web-based, software package designed using sound pedagogical principles to help educators create effective online, constructivist, learning communities. Moodle is currently used by more than 1,000 teachers and thousands of students in San Diego area schools. In this beginning course, you will begin to build and add content to your Moodle course by creating resources such as web pages, links to files and web sites, and organizing files into folders accessible in Moodle.

Moodle II: Intermediate Moodle for Educators

Participants should be familiar with the basics of Moodle, including how to add activities and files, and how to navigate a Moodle course. This course will teach you strategies on how to implement online collaboration and interaction in Moodle. Covered in this course will be glossaries and online assignments, online discussion and collaboration, data driven decision making, construction of online self-graded quizzes and collection of data to help drive your instruction.

Moodle III: Advanced Moodle for Educators

Beginning SMART™ Interactive White Board for Educators

This is a beginning workshop for teachers who are
starting to use or who are interested in using a SMART™ Interactive Whiteboard. This workshop will introduce you to SMART™ Board hardware and software. You will learn how to create engaging interactive lessons to meet the needs of your students, as well as find lessons and templates that correlate to the standards. This workshop, appropriate for teachers of all grade levels, will give practical ways on how to keep students focused and engaged while learning key components of the curriculum.
